How it all Started
It all started during the time, the whole world stood still during the uncertain days of COVID, and we all found ourselves spending that time locked in our homes.
It was during this quiet reflective time that my daughter shared the most joyous news – I was going to be a Nonna for the first time
The excitement of this new chapter in our family inspired me to pick up my crochet hook and create something special for our little bundle of joy. But I hadn’t picked up my crochet hook in years due to a heavy schedule, and a 3-job working life as a single parent.
I remembered as a child, My Nonna had this beautiful vintage, colourful, granny square blanket, she used to put over her knees. That thought had stuck with me all this time which inspired me to recreate a memory from my past, so I thought I’d give it a go.
At first, I was hesitant, my hands felt clumsy, I hadn’t picked up a hook in years, but somehow, the rhythm came back to me It just reminded me how I found the process unexpectedly therapeutic.
With every stitch, I imagined those little, tiny fingers and toes soon to be wrapped in the warmth of this handmade creation.
Row after row, stitch by stitch, my love and anticipation grew —it felt like I was weaving my heart, my soul, my hopes, and my dreams
into every loop.
Finally, I had finished this beautiful creation.
I could hardly wait to wrap up this beautiful blanket and hand it to my daughter, Celeste .
When I saw her, I smiled and said, “I finished… I made this for our baby.”
“Oh, wow she said unwrapping the gift. “Did you really make this, Mum?”. She asked, gently running her fingers over the stitches and inspecting every detail.
Her eyes lit up in disbelief, no way she said, “I just can’t believe you could make stuff like this”. In that moment, everything melted — her reaction was absolutely priceless .
A memory stitched with love I will carry in my heart forever .
“Yes, I did,” I replied, smiling. “You probably don’t remember but, I used to crochet and knit all your jumpers when you guys were little.”
She looked at me in awe and said something that planted a seed I hadn’t considered before
This is so beautiful mum, you should be seriously selling these.”
She loved it and proudly showed it off to her friends and family and their words of encouragement surprised me.
They weren’t just impressed, they believed in me and suggested I sell my creations.
From then on, that moment stayed with me
So, I started small, creating something easy and stitches I loved, like my Nonno’s blanket. It was vintage, soft and bright so my daughter said, “these are perfect for baby cradles, bassinets and Prams, mum” they can wrap their little ones in such warmth and comfort.
People saw them and started buying them through word of mouth. Then I was asked to make Blankets for cots and before long, people were asking for throws for their lounges and bed settings, by then I was so happily hooked all over again.
Each piece I make still carries the same intention as that very first blanket, with love, care, and a touch of story.
What I’ve come to realize is that people connect not just with the product, but with the heart and soul behind it .
In a world full of fast and disposable things, handmade items feel different.
They’re personal. They’re timeless. And they’re made to be treasured .
So, Enjoy and thank you all for being here 💞 🫶
